Norwich Karate Academy hold gradings every four months (March, July and November) in Norwich. A grading offers the chance for students to grade for their next belt (kyu grade) by demonstrating their ability to perform the syllabus. Throughout the course of training, students will cover a specific syllabus which includes Kihon (basics), Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring). Students eligible to grade will be able to attempt a grading in order to achieve their next belt.
Once students successfully pass their grading, they will receive their new belt and also their official certificate. All grades are internationally recognised by JKS and recorded in a JKS License Book which every student owns as proof of successful grading.
As students progress through the grades, the syllabus progresses and becomes more advanced by introducing more sequences and techniques. This allows students to develop their training and skills, preparing them for black belt and beyond. Students wanting to grade for black belt would do so in front of a panel of JKS instructors at a neutral venue along with other students from other karate clubs across the country.
