Who Are NKA?

Norwich Karate Academy (NKA) is a Shotokan karate club in Norwich and established in 2021 by karate instructor Matthew Yardy, black belt 5th Dan. 

NKA are affiliated to JKS England who are the English branch to the Japan Karate Shoto Renmei (JKS) which is one of the worlds leading karate organisations. JKS England are members of the English Karate Federation (EKF) which is the country's biggest competition governing body and is itself a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF). WKF were the karate organisation who were recognised by the International Olympic Committee where competitors from countries under the WKF banner represented their country at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Norwich Karate Academy was formed with the aim of bringing a more modern approach to karate training. Karate has been around for centuries but has become more popular in recent decades. Competition karate has become more popular across the world, but it is still considered important to study and train the traditional aspects of karate. Norwich Karate Academy combines both of these elements together in order to merge the traditional ethos and the modern competition style of karate, with our core values being to improve fitness and wellbeing, teach respect and setting regular goals.

We pride ourselves on being dedicated to coaching karate to the highest standard and boast many years of experience in coaching students of all ages and abilities. This includes teaching students from a beginner level all the way to black belt, as well as leading students to successful competition titles at a local, national and international level. 

Karate can be practiced by anyone; adults and children of all ages and abilities. We hold family classes for all levels as well as classes tailored for specific grades. All our classes are run in a secure, safe and friendly environment, following a syllabus tailored specifically for each grade as students progress towards black belt and beyond.
